Registration Guideline for 2009/2010 Academic Session

General Instruction:

Read the registration steps carefully before starting your online registration. All students who are to pay for school fees and register should logon to the portal using the url, www.abu.edu.ng or www.abuportal-ng.org to access their payment details.

The following payment options are available:

  • 1. BranchCollect (Students are strongly advised to use this option)
  • 2. eTranzact
  • 3. Interswitch

Participating Banks:

Students can make payment in any branch of the under listed banks nationwide:

  • 1. Intercontinental Bank Plc.
  • 2. First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
  • 3. Union Bank Nigeria Plc.

Duration of Registration:

  • Normal Registration------------------ 17th December 2009 to 19th February 2010
  • Late Registration-------------------- 22nd February 2010 to 5th March, 2010

Late registration is only allowed upon submitting evidence of payment of Late Registration Fees. The fees for late registration are as follows:

  • 1. Undergraduate------------ N2,500.00
  • 2. Postgraduate------------ N5,000.00

Commencement of Add/Drop would be duly communicated to the students and would strictly be available for those who have earlier registered on the Portal appropriately. Please note that bank transaction charges of N300.00 and N450.00 per transaction applies for BranchCollect and eTranzact respectively.

Important Notes:

  • 1. All students must upload their scanned passport photograph (JPEG Format and less than 100kb) and signature (JPEG Format and less than 100kb)
  • 2. Provide a valid mobile telephone number and email address as a requirement for online registration.
  • 3. Student's USERNAME and PASSWORD would be sent to his/her email address.
  • 4. Students must ensure that copies of payment documents (tellers and receipts from the Portal) are submitted to Faculty Accountants (in case of registration fees) and Student Affairs Finance Office (in case of Accommodation Fees).
  • 5. Student must also submit copies of Course Registration Forms from the Portal to the Faculty/Department Registration Officer for ratification. Finally approved copies must be submitted to the Academic Secretary's representative at the faculties. Successful hostel allocation printed from the Portal should be taken to the Hall Administrators of your selected hall of residence.
  • 6. Postgraduate returning students should maintain their Online Identification Numbers which is available at www.abu.edu.ng. Detailed Registration Guidelines can be downloaded from the University's website, www.abu.edu.ng as well.

Student Registration Procedure:

Follow the under listed steps to accomplish your registration on the portal:

  • 1.0 Proceed as applicable.

  • 1.1 For New Students Only (Postgraduate and Undergraduate) Undergraduate should proceed to their respective faculties for screening while Postgraduate are screened at the Postgraduate School.

  • 1.1.1 Eligible candidates are issued with Registration numbers (in case of undergraduate) and an Online Identification Code (for Postgraduates).

  • 1.1.2 For undergraduate students, submit photocopy of admission letter containing Matriculation number to representative of the Academic Secretary in the respective faculties (wait for at least 24hrs before proceeding to the Portal)

  • 1.1.3 Proceed by going to www.abuportal-ng.org for registration.

  • 1.1.4 Click on the hyperlink that applies to you on the home page of the Portal. For example, a Postgraduate student clicks on Make Payment/Check Profile under the section Postgraduate New Student while undergraduate clicks on Make Payment/Check Profile under Undergraduate New Student.

  • 1.1.5 Type your Registration Number or Online Identification Code (Undergraduate and Postgraduate respectively), select your State of Origin, and click on submit to check on your profile.

  • 1.2 For Returning Students only (Postgraduate and Undergraduate) Returning students require no screening. They proceed to the Portal at the url, www.abuportal-ng.org.

  • 1.2.1 Postgraduate can obtain their online Identification Code by visiting the university’s website, www.abu.edu.ng, the Postgraduate School or their respective Facultys' notice boards.

  • 1.2.2 Click on the hyperlink that applies to you on the home page of the Portal. For example, a Postgraduate student clicks on Make Payment/Check Profile under the section Postgraduate Returning Student while undergraduate clicks on Make Payment/Check Profile under Undergraduate Returning Student.

  • 1.2.3 Type your Registration Number or Online Identification Code (Undergraduate and Postgraduate respectively), and select your degree programme prefix (eg. B.Sc., LLM, B.A. B.Eng., etc) and click on submit to check on your profile. Please note that in case your profile is incorrect, call these hotline, 07029766500, 07029766501, 07029766502, 07029766503 from 8.00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday or send a mail to registrationsupport@abu.edu.ng or report to any of the Faculty’s Digital Centres before continuing your registration. If all the information displayed are correct, click on CHECK FEES SCHEDULE to access the appropriate fees payable as registration fees. You may print a copy if you so wish.

  • 2.0 At this stage, a student proceeds with registration using any of BranchCollect, eTranzact or InterSwich payment options. The university strongly recommends the use of BranchCollect for all payments:

  • 2.1 BranchCollect Option

  • 2.1.1 Walk into any branch of the listed banks above, obtain a teller and fill as appropriate. Request for any assistance from the banks’ personnel where necessary. Ensure that you’ve entered the correct A.B.U. account number with the bank you are paying into.

  • 2.1.2 Make payment and ensure that you obtain a printed copy of a BranchCollect receipt that has a TRANSACTION ID on it.

  • 2.1.3 Proceed to step 3.

  • 2.2 eTranzact Option

  • 2.2.1 Fill a valid teller obtained from the bank of your choice.

  • 2.2.2 Make payment and obtain a printed receipt that has a RECEIPT NUMBER and CONFIRMATION ID on it.s

  • 2.2.3 Proceed to step 3.

  • 2.3 InterSwitch Option

  • 2.3.1 Get Your ATM card or Interswitch cashcard from any bank and make sure it carries enough fund to cover any payment you are making (e.g school fees or accommodation fees). Cashcards can be purchased and loaded in any bank on the InterSwitch Platform.

  • 2.3.2 Repeat step 1.0 and do the following:

  • 2.3.2.1 Click on Check Fees Schedules after displaying the profile.

  • 2.3.2.2 Select the InterSwitch payment option.

  • 2.3.2.3 Respond as appropriate.

  • 2.3.2.4 Proceed to step 4: Course Registration.

  • 3.0 For those that used BranchCollect or eTranzact Options Proceed by opening the website, www.abuportal-ng.org and then do the following:

  • 3.1 Logon as you did in step 1.0.

  • 3.2 For BranchCollect, a confirmation page is displayed that request for Transaction Id. Enter the Id and proceed to step 3.5.

  • 3.3 For eTranZact, click on the authenticate button.

  • 3.4 The confirmation page is displayed. Then enter the Confirmation Id and the Receipt Number.

  • 3.5 A receipt is now displayed. Print a copy and proceed to edit your profile. Your login parameters are displayed and a copy would be sent to your email box.

  • 4.0 Course Registration Click on Course Registration to complete your course registration for the session. Select only the courses you are to register from the list of displayed courses, click on PREVIEW to check only the courses you have selected and click on Submit to finally register your courses. Print your registered courses by clicking on Print Courses Registered button. You can modify your course registration by clicking on the Add more Courses and Drop Courses links.

  • 5.0 Hostel Room Reservation Note: Hostel room reservation will only be available upon completion of course registration. If you are entitled for accommodation and wish to stay in the university hostel accommodation, you can reserve for a space by using the 'Reserve Hostel Room' link. Select the hostel, the block and the room you wish to reserve. Proceed to select the payment option you so desire to use. Students that reserve hostel spaces are expected to make payment for such reserved spaces within 24 hours of the reservation. Space allocation is only confirmed after making payment. Failure to make payment within the valid period for reservation would void such a reservation. Students can pay for only one space in a session. An eligible student is given a second chance to reserve for another space if the first reservation elapses. All other conditions for hostel allocation applies. Procedure for payment for reserved room spaces are as follows:

  • 5.1 Using BranchCollect Click on MAKE PAYMENT and select BranchCollect option and click on Pay via BranchCollect button to proceed. Click on Confirm button. Click on Generate Transaction ID, print the Transaction ID and proceed to make payment at any designated bank. Thereafter log on to the Portal to print confirmed allocation of bed space.

  • 5.2 Using eTranzact Click the Reserve Hostel Room link from the menu to reserve a bed space in your desired hostel. Specify the block and room number. Click on the Reserve Room button to complete the reservation. Click on PRINT button to print the hostel reservation details and proceed to any branch of the designated banks to make payment. Thereafter log on to the Portal to print confirmed allocation of bed space.

  • 5.3 Using InterSwitch

  • • Select Interswitch Option and click on PAY VIA INTERSWITCH button to proceed.

  • • On the appearing page, click on CONFIRM button.

  • • On the appearing page click on PAY VIA INTERSWITCH button to proceed to PAYDIRECT online page.

  • • Enter your Card Number, Expiry Date and Card PIN, then click on PAY button

  • • Wait for Interswitch (this takes about 3 minutes depending on the network) to process your Payment Request, display your Payment Status and Payment Receipt, all on the same page.

  • • If the Payment status is not successful, then reconfirm your transaction by clicking on the link CLICK HERE In case your transaction is still not successful, check back after 24 hours to access, complete and print your Hostel Allocation Details for your records.
