The Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General MT Ibrahim has expressed satisfaction over the outstanding performance recorded by 2nd Lt BG Elegbe during his officer training at the Nepalese Military Academy in Nepal.
2nd Lt BG Elegbe, a member of 61 regular courses, departed the country on 24th August 2014 for the Nepalese Military Academy and was commissioned on the 11th of April 2016. At the end of his training at the Nepalese Academy, he was awarded the “Khukuri of Honour†Award, an award given to the All – Round Best Allied Student at the Nepalese Military Academy. In addition to this, Elegbe also emerged the best athlete at the Nepalese Military Academy.
While congratulating the young officer on his recorded success, the Commandant NDA, Major General MT Ibrahim informed 2nd Lt Elegbe that the Academy is deeply proud of him and his exploits in Nepal. General Ibrahim encouraged him to be a gentleman officer, adding that he has chosen a noble profession which can enable him meet all his aspirations in life. He affirmed that there is no greater honour than for one to serve in the armed forces of his country.
Referring to his training in Nepal, the Commandant revealed to 2nd Lt Elegbe that the completion of his course is just a step he has crossed in the march toward serving his country in the capacity of a military officer. He informed him that a lot is required from him. And that although he studied in another country with different background, the Commandant encouraged him to share and learn from all the experiences he has acquired, adding that he should not view himself as different but quickly integrate and reconnect with the Army and the Nigerian Armed Forces in other to impart whatever knowledge he has acquired. The Commandant further challenged him to be brave, courageous and be prepared to serve his country, especially at this period that the country is battling insurgency in some parts of the country.
While delivering his Vote of Thanks, 2nd Lt BG Elegbe acknowledged the efforts of the Commandant and the entire Academy community for instilling the required discipline in him and for nominating him to attend the course, and for all the advice and encouragement he received while in Nepal.
