NDA PG SCHOOL PRACTICES TRANSFORMATIVE EDUCATION – PROF AS NWONKWO
The Provost Nigeria Defence Academy Prof AS Nwankwo has reiterated the fact that NDA Post Graduate School practices transformative education system, which he said is important for the growth of any society. He made this remark at the Orientation Ceremony organized for Post Graduate students of the 2016/2017 Session of the Nigerian Defence Academy.
“In this era of science and technology and in the knowledge and skill race, Nigeria cannot afford to play second fiddle in the Comity of Nationsâ€, he noted. Prof AS Nwankwo, while welcoming the PG students to the Academy, urged them to be dedicated and concentrate on their studies. He further added that the greatest investment any nation can make is educating its populace. NDA, he said, is committed to helping the nation’s drive in the frontier for quality education, as well as producing intellectual men and women who will be able to make their mark in the intellectual world.
While enumerating the unique qualities of the NDA PG School, the Provost pointed out that the school is one of the best providers of quality education in the country and that it is confident of its future. He stressed further that the NDA PG School strives to safeguard its integrity by practicing an open system which is fair to all. It also hopes to produce the best quality of graduates and also create a community of learners with unique links, networks and connections.
Speaking earlier, the Dean of PG School, Prof Ahmed Okene, pointed out that orientation is important as it acquaints the students with vital information of their new environment, considering the fact that the Academy is a military institution with peculiar characteristics. He charged the new students to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the PG school, adding that NDA is one university where unionism not allowed. The Dean further highlighted the 3 R’s which the school hopes to achieve: Recognition, Respect and Reference. While re-emphasizing the unique nature of the PG School, he revealed that it is the only PG school that was commissioned by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2004. Accordingly, it is also the only one with an integrated university campus in Nigeria. He therefore enjoined all students to be steadfast, especially since the Academy will provide an equal playing ground for all, while also being conscious of the fact that defaulters will be shown the way out.
