Abyssinia Battalion are Drill Champions

The 2016 Third Quarter Inter Battalion Drill Competition for the 64th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy took place recently with Abyssinia Battalion emerging the champions. The competition which is meant to engender leadership qualities, physical endurance, physical fitness, healthy competition and diligence to duty, among others, saw cadets of the four regular cadetsâ€™ battalions, namely, Abyssinia, Burma, Mogadishu and Dalet, compete against each other in areas like, Turn Out to Parade, Marching on Parade, Slow March, Quick March, Cane Drill, Arms and Sentry Drill, Parade Command, among others.

In his remark, the Guest of Honour and Commandant NDA, Major General MT Ibrahim, congratulated cadets of Abyssinia Battalion on their triumph in the drill competition but warned against complacency. Represented at the event by the Director of Logistics, NDA, Air Commodore AI Durotoye, the Commandant implored cadets of other battalions to gear up and better their skills, as drill is as important as any tool for any military officerâ€™s career, noting that it prepares officers for leadership and command roles on or off the battle field.
At the end of proceedings, Mogadishu Battalion came second after Abyssinia Battalion, while Burma and Dalet Battalion came third and fourth respectively.
