Commandant Admonishes 63RC Cadets Against Vices

The Commandant,  Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General MT Ibrahim, has advised cadets of the 63 Regular Course to refrain from greed, temptations of fraternising with soldiers of the opposite gender or their spouses, as well as giving into peer pressure in a bid to acquire worldly possessions, among other vices.

Major General MT Ibrahim gave this advice at the Pre-Commissioning Lecture organised for cadets of the 63 Regular Course at the NDA Multipurpose Hall, NDA Permanent Site.

The NDA Commandant, who stated that the purpose of the lecture is to give the soon- to- be commissioned officers preparatory experiences they are likely to encounter in the various units, battalions and formations they will be posted to after their Passing Out and subsequent commissioning into the Nigerian Armed Forces, said humility and esprit de corps should be their watchword after their Passing Out.

Major General MT Ibrahim admonished the cadets against having or displaying any air of superiority around their soldiers, but that they should be team players in their professional output and task execution wherever they find themselves.

The Commandant NDA, who further advised the cadets to embrace the peculiarities of their units, formations and battalions, such as its norms and traditions, also advised them to embrace their host communities and blend into their surroundings.

Major General MT Ibrahim who told them that there would be challenges in their first few months or years as Commissioned Officers, however assured them that the challenges are only teething problems that would go away with time.

The Guest Lecturer at the event, Retired Major General KA Role, a former General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, advised the cadets of the 63 Regular Course to follow the ethics of their chosen profession if they really want to grow in the military.

General KA Role further called on them to be of good character, rational behaviour, professional and good cheer so that their growth in the military will be assured.

Delivering a Vote of Thanks on behalf of cadets of the 63 Regular Course, Cadet C Lordmallam thanked the Commandant and other Senior officers of the Academy, while also acknowledging the entire NDA Community for their support and prayers over their years in training at the Academy. Cadet Lordmallam also promised that Cadets of 63 Regular Course would be a source of pride to the Academy and the nation at large, in years to come, assuring everyone that members of the course would be professional, disciplined, committed and respectful to constitutional and civil authorities.
