After its poor performance in competitions last session, Burma Battalion which came last position in most Inter-Battalion competitions has risen to take over the position of the leading Battalion in this year’s Cross Country Competition which is the first Competitive event for this session.

Declaring the winners at the event, the Chief Judge started with the announcement of the individual category where the winner arrived at a timing of 1hour 4minutes and 29seconds, the second cadet (winner) arrived at a timing of one hour five minutes, 17seconds. The third position arrived 1hour 5mintues, 22 seconds. On the female cadets’ category, the first female cadet arrived at a timing of 1hour 18mintue and 44 seconds, the second female cadet arrived at exactly 1hour 21
The Cross Country exercise is one of the most important Sporting events in the Academy. It requires a high level of physical and mental prowess which are essential attributes for all officers in the Nigerian Armed Forces. Therefore, all officer cadets do partake in this exercise regularly in order to, among other things; keep fit as they progress in their trainings.

Cadets During The Inter-Battalion Cross Country Competition
The chief judge while announcing the results gave the criteria to determine the winners as timing and caging the cadets into 3 categories .Timing according to him would be used to separate the cadets in cages based on their time of arrival at the finishing point and they would be placed in 3cages based on the first, second and third timing points while others who could not make it within the time frame for the caging would be placed separately with no points awarded to them.

Declaring the winners at the event, the Chief Judge started with the announcement of the individual category where the winner arrived at a timing of 1hour 4minutes and 29seconds, the second cadet (winner) arrived at a timing of one hour five minutes, 17seconds. The third position arrived 1hour 5mintues, 22 seconds. On the female cadets’ category, the first female cadet arrived at a timing of 1hour 18mintue and 44 seconds, the second female cadet arrived at exactly 1hour 21 minutes 14 seconds while the third cadet arrived at a timing of 1hour 52mintues 10 seconds.
Declaring the winning Battalion at the end of the event, the chief judge said Burma Battalion came first with a total score of 3,675 points and carted away the champion trophy. Dalet Battalion came second with 3.555 points and Abyssinia Battalion came third with 3.385 points while Mogadishu Battalion came fourth with 3.230 points.
Addressing the cadets at the end of the event, the special Guest of Honour and Commandant NDA, Maj. Gen MT Ibrahim, who was represented by his Deputy, AVM OS Ntugogu, expressed delight with the cadets’ performance. He charged them to see of the exercise as an opportunity to mould and toughen themselves so that they will stand unique amongst their equals. He encouraged them to take all training given them in the Academy with all seriousness as it will help them meet up the challenges ahead of them.
AVM Ntugogu congratulated the champion Battalion on their success while urging them not to relent on their efforts as there are more competitions ahead. To the other Battalions, He encouraged them to work harder next time so as to emerge winners at subsequent competitions.
