The Commandant of the Nigeria Defence College, Rear Admiral SI Alade, said the MOU was designed so as to add value to Armed forces.

Rear Admiral Alade said in view of the continually changing global security challenges, there is the need to add intellectual input to security agents and members of the Armed Forces if the security challenges are to be met and tackled effectively.

The NDC Commandant said the MOU was for the consolidation and optimization of career-long training, education and self development of officers with the requisite aptitude and intellectual training that will further enhance strategic leadership at national and international levels.

Rear Admiral Alade further revealed that it is also a means to exploit the immense human resources in the Nigerian Defence Academy and the National  Defence College to deepen military-specific research, security and national Development matters.

The Commandant, who said the academic program is designed such that it will allow for the early release of officers after the core course thus making them available for deployment by the various services, namely, Army, Navy and Air Force, also added that in an era of dwindling financial resources to the country and the various services, it was economically prudent for the NDC to run the program at NDA   as the overall cost of the Academic program at NDA will be lower than the cost of the professional Masters Degree program the university of Ibadan currently gives to the participants and fellows of the National Defence College.

He further revealed that the NDC is resolved to producing officers that are able to function effectively on strategic level in the Armed forces of Nigeria

In his remarks the Commandant NDA, Major General MT Ibrahim, commended the National Defence College for moulding the vision and thinking of the participants of the NDC that have continually excelled in many fora  across the globe.
