Dalet Battalion Wins Althletics Championsip

For putting up an impressive performance, Dalet Battalion emerged winners at the recently concluded Cadets Brigade Inter-Battalion Athletics Competition at the Nigerian Defence Academy Permanent Site Sports Complex.

Dalet Battalion emerged winners ahead of three other battalions, having won 12 Gold, 9 Silver and 10 Bronze medals. The Battalion was closely followed by Mogadishu Battalion with 8 Gold, 7 Silver and 9 bronze medals. Abyssinia Battalion came third having won 7 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 Bronze medals, while Burma Battalion came in last with 6 Gold, 11 Silver and 6 Bronze medals.

For its effort, Dalet Battalion was awarded with the championâ€™s trophy and Burma Battalion, which came last were be given a wooden spoon.

The Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy, Maj Gen MT Ibrahim, who was also the special Guest of Honour at the event, thanked everyone for attending and participating actively, especially the cadets and the organizers of athletics competition. He also commended the efforts of the battalion who came first (Dalet) for the display of team spirit and sportsmanship, stating that if this kind hard work is put in the battle field everyone will go to sleep with their eyes closed. The Commandant wished the cadets luck in their stay at the Academy and in the field in future.
