Cadets of 37RC Give Back to the System

In the spirit of giving back to the Academy and the department for the military, academic and character development trainings given to them while as cadets, the alumni cadets of 37RC of the department of History and War Studies, class of 1985-1989, made a symbolic presentation of 176 assorted books valued at N1, 200,000.00 which are relevant to the department in order to assist in the teaching, learning and research of lecturers, post graduate students and cadets.

Presenting the books, the leader of the representatives, Brigadier General F Yahaya said the essence of the visit was to appreciate the department and the Academy for the training given them as cadets which have equipped them for the jobs and positions they have acquired today. He appreciated their lecturers, the department and the academy for a job well done.

In his remarks the former commandant major General MT Ibrahim ably represented by the Dean faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Professor OE Tangbam observed that for any establishment to grow, one of the critical areas to consider is the library. He applauded the alumni members recognizing this critical area and responding promptly. He charged the cadets to take a cue from the visitors and develop a habit of giving back to the system and investing their efforts and knowledge to bear on the system. He assured that the books will be put to good use saying that their gesture is a product of service to the society. He commended them for their service and prayed that God will uplift and reward them.

Giving the vote of thanks, the Academy Registrar Brigadier General IM Yusuf who incidentally is a member of 37RC and one of the alumni members of the department appreciated the former Commandant for his support and understanding in challenging the officers to always remember to give back to the system that trained them. He said it should be on record that the support and encouragement of the former Commandant gave rise to the donation made. He emphasized that continuous sensitization of generations upon generations of cadets should be embarked upon.
