The Director of military training, Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, Brigadier General MG Kangye, has advised cadets of the Academy to consider sports and physical fitness as integral parts of military life.
Brigadier General MG Kangye stated this at the closing ceremony of the Ashanti Battalion Unarmed Combat Sports Competition for cadets of Short Service Course 44 (Army) which took place at the gymnasium hall of the Ribadu Campus of the institution.
The Competition saw cadets of Tamando and Colito Companies compete against each other in sports like Judo, Taekwondo, Wrestling and Boxing.

At the end of the keenly contested competition, Tamundo Company emerged winner with10 gold, 12 silver and 8 Bronze medals, while Colito Company followed closely with10 gold, 8 silver and 12 bronze medals in the different weight categories.

The Director Military Training, who was delighted at the level of seriousness exhibited by the cadets, used the occasion to address other officers and men that were in attendance to always find ways to stay physically fit as military life entails physically challenges that need to be surmounted. The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of medals to the Deserving athletes.
