The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service Commission, Eng. Joseph Garba who recently visited The Nigerian Defence Academy has sought for collaboration with the Nigerian Defence Academy. He believes that this collaboration with NDA will widen the horizon of the Fire Service Commission in areas of research and program development for better disaster and risk management.

The Controller General, requested that a Post Graduate Diploma and Masters Degree in Disaster and Risk Management be established in the Academy from the Departments of Military Geography and Centre for Energy and Environment. In his remarks, the Deputy Commandant Air vice Marshal OS Ntukogu commended the Controller General and his team for taking this step towards the amelioration of the Nigerian Fire Service Commission. He reminded them that the responsibility of the Fire Service Commission does not rest only on fire fighting. Disaster management according to him is also their duty.
However, he assured them that the NDA will assist to improve their service to the Nation. He further encouraged them to widen their search for developmental collaboration, looking not only to the military for assistance, as there are lots of organizations who's effort and collaboration are required in building a better disaster management force in Nigeria.

The meeting which took place at the Loyalty Conference Hall of the Nigerian Defence Academy was attended by the Principal Staff Officer from NDA, Deans of Faculties, Heads of centers, Senior Officers from the Federal Fire Service Commission and members of Collaboration and Linkages Unit of NDA.
