A delegation from the Bangladesh Armed Forces visited the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). According to the leader of the delegation Major General Wakee, the purpose of their visit was to exchange views and experiences with the NDA on the training and administration of female cadets and on counter terrorism & insurgency. He said that they have also come to learn more on the roles of female soldiers in counter terrorism.

Responding, the Commandant NDA Major General A Oyebade who described their visit as auspicious admitted that countries all over the world are facing terrorism and insurgency challenges including Nigeria but that Nigerian Armed Forces have effectively degraded insurgency and have and denied the insurgents ability to hold territories. He acknowledged that Nigerian Armed Forces is raising the bar on their training in order to meet the modern day security challenges. Major General Oyebade said the Nigerian Armed Forces have stood strong in the fight against terrorism and that to a large extent, the country is proud of them. He also added that on the issue of female cadets, there is an articulation of a robust gender policy that is favourable to them.

Highlight of the visit was a brief on Cadets Brigade presented by Lieutenant Colonel TH Saleh. It was designed to acquaint the Bangladesh team on the administration of female cadets in NDA.

The visit which held at the Loyalty Conference Room of the NDA was attended by the Principal Staff Officers of the Academy.
