The Commandant of NDA, Major General MT Ibrahim, has commended the level of love, co-operation and camaraderie that exists between civilians and military officers and men serving in the Nigerian Defence Academy.

The Commandant made this statement while reacting to the large turnout of civilians that graced the Decoration ceremony of newly promoted senior officers serving at the academy, held at the NDA officers’ mess. Major General MT Ibrahim, who reminded all present that military men were once part of the civil world, also opined that with the right synergy and cooperation between the Military and civilians, the unfortunate security challenges the country is currently facing would be a thing of the past.
Earlier, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Kaduna, Major General A Oyebado, advised the newly decorated Senior Officers to realize that they are now part of the Military management in Nigeria and so must not be found or heard ‘badmouthing’ the Military Authority. While advising the newly decorated senior officers to learn from the superiors, General Oyebade equally advised them to be loyal to the constitutional authorities of the land. He further advised them to be part of the solutions the country is facing by bringing to bear their wealth of experience on every situation, whilst also admonishing them to be careful of the friends they keep.

In a show of gratitude, Commodore AK Olulowo, one of the newly decorated senior officers, thanked the Military Authorities for deeming them fit for their new ranks and prayed for continued support from their families and friends.

In all, 12 senior officers were decorated with their new ranks. While two officers were decorated with their new rank of brigadier general and its equivalent, seven others were decorated with their new ranks of Colonel and its equivalent, while three other officers were decorated with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and its equivalent in the Air Force. Among those decorated is the Senior Officer Grade 1 at the Directorate of Coordination NDA, OA Fadairo, who was decorated with his new rank of Colonel.
