The Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General MT Ibrahim, has applauded the efforts of the NDA Officers Wives Association (NDAOWA) in its drive to provide social services, particularly to widows, as well striving to improve the general welfare of dependants of officers and soldiers serving in the Academy.


The Commandant made the commendation when the President of NDAOWA, Mrs Fauziyah Ibrahim and other members of the association paid a courtesy call on him at the NDA Headquarters. The Commandant said NDAOWA has, over the years, helped to keep the officers and men serving in NDA productive by providing the enabling environment and help needed for the officers and men excel in their chosen careers.


The President of NDAOWA, Mrs Fauziyah Ibrahim, disclosed that NDAOWA was in NDA to solicit support for a bus which NDAOWA needs to run its day to day activities and funds for the provision of social amenities for widows whose husbands had fallen in the fight against insurgency, as well as funds to refurbish the maternity ward in the NDA Medical Centre.


The NDA Commandant, Major General MT Ibrahim, who thereafter assured the visiting NDAOWA officials of NDA’s desire to support them in their activities, also advised the leadership of NDAOWA to have a large and accommodating heart as it is critical in leading people and contributing to peoples’ lives. The Commandant equally advised NDAOWA to set realistic goals and focus on them as taking your eyes off the set goals will only present problems.
The NDAOWA President and her entourage were later presented with souvenirs by the Commandant, Major General MT Ibrahim.
