NDAOWA Visits NAICC and NAPKC

In its quest to meet up with the increasing need for its welfare activities within the Barracks especially in the areas of skills acquisition, gender and child empowerment, and provision of health and sanitation services, the Nigerian Defence Academy Officers Wives Association (NDAOWA) recently paid a visit to the Commander Nigerian Army Infantry Center (NAICC), Major General Shehu Yusuf and the Acting Commandant, Nigerian Army Peace Keeping Center (NAPKC), Brigadier General AM Dauda to solicit support for the various activities of the Association.

Speaking during the visit, President of NDAOWA and wife of the Commandant NDA, Mrs Fauziya Ibrahim, enumerated some of the Association’s activities as well as its planned activities for the nearest future. These activities she indicated include, support to NDAOWA’s widows and orphans, visit to orphanages, skill acquisition activities for barracks women and visitations to hospitals particularly 44 Reference Hospital. She therefore used the visit to solicit the support of the Commander NAICC and the Acting Commandant NAPKC, to enable the association carries out these laudable activities and efficiently run NDAOWA.

Responding, the Commander Infantry Corps Major General Shehu Yusuf enlightened his guests on the roles of the Infantry Corps as the number one Corps in the Nigerian Army which makes policies and administers career prospects. He promised to support NDAOWA in their developmental projects.

Likewise, the Commandant NAPKC Brigadier General AM Dauda said he was delighted to know that NDAOWA is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO). He said that NAPKC has close collaborations with NGOs stressing that the Center initiates courses that teach officers how to manage crises situations in order to restore peace and the management of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). He noted that despite the Center’s financial constraint, it will support NDAOWA and will also offer non financial support by educating NDAOWA members on Peace Studies as Facilitators.
