Impressed by the speed and quality of implementation of the various projects being embarked upon by the Nigerian Defence Academy under the leadership of Major General MT Ibrahim, members of the House Committee on Defence have expressed their willingness to support the Academy in its developmental strides, particularly in the areas of facilitating the prompt release of much needed funds to complete ongoing projects and getting vital ones off the ground.


This was made known when the Committee members were taken round ongoing projects in the Nigerian Defence Academy. The tour of ongoing projects, which was preceded by a detailed brief on the NDA covering organization, structure, ongoing and planned projects, achievements and challenges of the Academy, formed part of the Committee’s statutory Oversight Responsibilities over the various institutions under her. During the tour, members of the committee vsited the new Academy Logo Roundabout, the newly refurbished and expanded 3 –Lane Obstacle Crossing Course, the new NDA Armoury, the new NDA Electronic Indoor Gallery Shooting Range, the new Academy Magazine, remodeled 5th Termers Block and the Cadets Mess extensions, among other projects.


Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Honourable Muktar Betara Aliyu, after the tour of projects, expressed satisfaction with the level of development recorded by the Academy under the leadership of its current Commandant, Major General MT Ibrahim. He promised the NDA leadership of his Committee’s total support in facilitating every process that is necessary for the Academy to achieve the goals of its founding fathers.
Addressing the members of the House Committee on Defence at the new NDA Loyalty Hall, NDA Headquarters, Commandant NDA, Major General MT Ibrahim, expressed delight at the visit of the legislators. He assured them that irrespective of the challenges and constraints faced by the Academy he will continue to work towards elevating the status of the Nigerian Defence Academy in line with the vision of the founding fathers of the institution. He further solicited the support of the House Committee on Defence in assisting the Academy achieve its goals.


At the end of the visit, members of the House Committee on Defence were treated to a dinner with final year cadets at the NDA Cadets Mess, where they interacted with the cadets. Afterwards, a Vote of Thanks was delivered by the Academy Cadet Adjutant, Cadet VN Osi, on behalf of all the cadets. He thanked the visitors for the visit to NDA and wished them a safe journey back.
