NDA is Progressing
The Honourable Minister of Defence, Retired Brigadier General Mansur Dan - Ali, has said that the Nigerian Defence Academy, as an institution that trains young men and women into officers that will lead the nation’s military, is making steady progress.
The Minister, who also doubles as the chairman of the NDA council stated this recently at the Academy Headquarters during the first NDA council meeting for year 2016. Retired Brigadier General Dan - Ali stated that though the NDA Council meeting is routine meeting held to discuss and address issues relating to the institution, for some reasons the meeting could not hold in the year 2015, hence the need to start early this year.
Speaking further, General Dan - Ali who also described the NDA as an institution where the tradition of courage, valour and loyalty are instilled in military officers, said with all the challenges facing the country, NDA remains the backbone of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The Minister of Defence further stated that the Federal Government is determined to increase the number of military men and women in the country and NDA is being equipped to meet the challenges of an increased number of officer cadets in terms of projects, welfare, military and academic training.
Earlier the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General MT Ibrahim congratulated the Defence Minister and the Service Chiefs on their new appointments and also outlined activities going on in the NDA with a view of seeing to their successful take off and completion through increased funding and logistics support.
The Minister of Defence Retired Major General Mansur Dan - Ali, further used the occasion to commission the NDA logo roundabout, the Loyalty conference hall and the electronics shooting range for cadets of the NDA. All are projects carried out by the Commandant, Major General MT Ibrahim in his so far brief stay as the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy.
