Again, staff of the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna have been reminded of the importance of placing the cadets at the centre of everything they do, while going about their official business.
This charge was given by the Commandant NDA, Major General MT Ibrahim, at the first NDA Academic Durbar with the Commandant for the year 2016, held recently at the Nigerian Defence Academy Multi-Purpose Hall. The Academic Durbar, which is a statutory platform for interaction between the Commandant and members of the Academic and Non – Academic Staff of the Nigerian Defence Academy, is recommended by NDA CAP N101 of the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2014 and is convened periodically, with the Commandant or the Deputy Commandant as chairman.
Addressing the staff, the Commandant, Major General M.T Ibrahim, reaffirmed that the Durbar was an interaction between the management of the Academy and staff on what could be done to improve the training of cadets, welfare of the staff, infrastructural development, environmental designs and cleanliness within the Nigerian Defence Academy. He enjoined all the staff to work very hard towards positively affecting the lives of cadets, noting that the cadets are the focal point of the NDA and should be trained to become sound and credible officers. He further appealed to the staff to do away with truancy and malingering but rather to do their work with dedication, commitment and loyalty, and to exercise their powers with responsibility.
He praised the staff for their dedication to duties and urged them to develop high level of patriotism and commitment to work; stressing that with their co-operation the Academy will achieve a milestone. He solicited for the staff’s support and time to be able to turn NDA around.
Finally, he advised the workers to be punctual to work and functions. According to him, ‘’punctuality is the soul of business’’, and it pays to be punctual, he added.
The Academic Durbar provided a platform for staff to ask questions, make comments, contributions and observations, while the commandant responded.
Delivering the Vote of Thanks, the Academy Provost Professor AS Nwankwo expressed his utmost gratitude to the Commandant for his presence and thanked the staff for comporting themselves in a most cordial and acceptable manner.
