The Commandant Nigeria Defence Academy, Major General MT Ibrahim has reiterated the need for leaders to always live by their words, in essence, to always be honourable men and fulfil their promises, adding that it is all in the process of mentoring future leaders. He made this remark at the launching ceremony of five brand new Peugeot vehicles which was donated to the Academic Branch.
Major General MT Ibrahim, while recently on a working tour across various faculties, departments and Centres of Excellence at the Academy, visited the Academic Branch and amongst other promises, pledged to provide five vehicles to the Academic Branch. The event therefore was the fulfilment of that pledge he made to Branch.
While speaking at the official handing over of the vehicles at the Academic Branch, the Commandant pointed out that institutions like NDA are not built on superfluous stories, rather NDA is a brand and in line with the vision OF NDA, the Academy must measure up to modern and international standards and be duly recognised. It’s in line with this dream and ideology that, after seeing the state of the official cars at the Academic Branch during his recent visit, the drive to upgrade the standard and improve on staff welfare was necessitated. According to the Commandant, professors and other representatives of the NDA should be duly recognized and accorded due respect even when on functions outside the Academy, because they are ambassadors and flag bearers representing the Academy.
He admonished the academic staff members to be more dedicated in to their duties and having the consciousness that cadets should be their focus, adding that everyone in the Academy is here to tutor and mentor them to enable them deliver and be of unquestionable character in the future. God’s willing, he said, the Academy will experience more modification and reforms. As such, he urged them to give back to the Academy in all areas they have benefitted by mentoring, imbibing the culture of team spirit, and attaining academic excellence.
While appreciating the effort of the Commandant, the Academy Provost Professor AS Nwankwo said the quality of leadership the Commandant has brought to bear since his assumption of office is exemplary. He reaffirmed his belief that the momentum of the ongoing reforms will be felt by the entire NDA community. He further assured the Commandant that the Academic Branch will work in line with the vision of the Commandant and help to actualize his vision for the Academy.
