The Nigerian Defence Academy 65 Regular Course Inter Battalion Drill Competition took place recently with Burma Battalion emerging the winner, having scored a total of two hundred and fifty six points to emerge tops ahead of three other battalions.
Following closely in second position was Abyssinia Battalion which scored a total of two hundred and fifty five point three points (255.3). Mogadishu Battalion came third with two hundred and thirty seven point six points (237.6) and the fourth position went the way of Dalet Battalion with two hundred and thirty seven point four points (237.4). Likewise, the prize for the best parade commander went the way of Cadet AA Rabiu of Abyssinian Battalion.
Announcing the results, the chief judge of the competition, Lt Col OO Obolo, said the aim of Drill exercises is to produce officers and men that are smart, alert and obedient to command and instructions. Lt Col Obolo congratulated Burma Battalion for emerging the winner of the competition but also advised them against complacency in future competitions. He equally charged the other battalions to take their loss as a challenge so that they may excel in future competitions.
In his closing remark, the Guest of Honour, the Director of Administration, Nigerian Defence Academy, Commodore AM Adegboyega, charged the cadets to always strive to be better in every field of human endeavour throughout the span of their careers. Commodore AM Adegboyega, thereafter, congratulated the Cadets Brigade Commander, Brigadier General MG Kangye for organising a successful Drill Competition. He equally thanked the cadets for taking him down memory lane back to days when he was a cadet at the Nigerian Defence Academy.
