RELATIONSHIP OF THE COURSES TO THE MILITARY
Biology as a Science is highly relevant to military career. The B.Sc Biological Sciences Programme is aimed at producing military officers with a high mental awareness, and capabilities to appreciate and identify with the impact of Biological Sciences and Technology in modern day warfare. Courses offered by the department cover every areas of Biology, with emphasis on its special applications to the military. The curriculum was designed to achieve this objective. POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME
The Department conducts Postgraduate programmes at both the M.Sc and PhD levels in the following areas:
(a) Zoology: Marine Biology
(b) Botany: Medicinal and Poisonous plants
(c) Microbiology: Ecology and environmental studies.
These programmes are open to both military personnel and any interested civilian who possess the basic
foundation or degrees in any discipline of Biological Sciences.
The M.Sc Programme runs for a period of two years, during which the students are expected to pass all their courses and also undertake a research project in their chosen areas of specialization.
The Ph.D programme runs for a period of three years and it is by research, as well as internal and external defence.
