Dr. Muhammad Y. Onimisi graduated from the Bayero University, Kano in 1994 with a B.Sc degree in Physics (2nd Class Upper Division). He was the best student in the Physics class and therefore won the university scholarship in physics from his second year until his graduation. Dr. M.Y. Onimisi maintained this scholarship in year three when he won Dr. Ponna mbalam prize for the best level three student in Physics .He also won the convocation prize for the best graduating student in Physics. He joined the services of Nigerian Defence Academy in 1995 as a Graduate Assistant. He obtained his M.Sc degree from the same university in 2001 and his Ph.D degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2006.
Dr. M.Y. Onimisi has engaged himself in many community services. He has been a Visiting Scholar to Kaduna State University and Umaru Musa University, Katsina since 2010. He has served as external examiner for two consecutive years to Federal University of Technology, Minna in their undergraduate programme. He has also served as an external examiner to some M.Sc theses from the same university. His main research interest is Solar Cells material characterization and development with emphasis on Inorganic materials and recently dwelled into organic solar cells materials.
Dr. Onimisi has published his research findings (over 40 journal articles) in reputable Foreign and International Journals and he has also served as Reviewer to International and University based Journals including Physical Review International, Nigerian Journal of Renewable Journal and Academy Journal of Science and Engineering. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Physics and a regular member of American Physical Society (APS). He is happily married with children
